Kenneth Martin, DVM, Diplomate Of The American College Of Veterinary Behaviorists

Dr. Martin is a board certified veterinary behaviorist and a licensed practicing veterinarian in the great state of Texas. He completed a clinical behavioral medicine residency at Purdue University's Animal Behavior Clinic under the mentorship of Dr. Andrew Luescher PhD, DVM, DACVB in 2004 and graduated from Louisiana State University - School of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. He was invited to join Phi Zeta, the honor society of veterinary medicine, while at Purdue University.  

Dr. Martin’s professional interests include behavioral development, cognition/learning, psychopharmacology, conflict related (owner directed) aggression, and alternative medicine. He is a frequent lecturer on animal behavior disorders and teaches a small animal behavior course for veterinary students at Louisiana State University. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. Dr. Martin is a Fear Free Certified Professional Level 3 and the owner of the first veterinary behavior specialty practice to become a Fear Free Certified® Practice.

He is a published author in the Journal of Veterinary Behavior: Clinical Applications and Research and has contributions to the texts Manual of Parrot Behavior, Veterinary Clinics of North America: Small Animal Practice –Behavior, and Canine and Feline Behavior for Veterinary Technicians and Nurses, 2nd edition.  Dr. Kenneth Martin and Debbie Martin co-authored Puppy Start Right: Foundation Training for the Companion Dog book and the acclaimed Karen Pryor Academy Puppy Start Right for Instructors Course.

Debbie is a Licensed Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Technician Specialist (Behavior), Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, Karen Pryor Academy Faculty Emeritus, and Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed. She is also honored to be a part of Clicker Expo Faculty. Debbie obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in human ecology from The Ohio State University. She then went on to obtain an Associate of Applied Science degree in Veterinary Technology from Columbus State Community College. She has been a full-time registered/licensed veterinary technician since 1996 and has been the Animal Behavior Technician for Veterinary Behavior Consultations since 2005. She is a board member for The Academy of Veterinary Behavior Technicans and a professional member of the Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians. Debbie is a Elite Fear Free Certified® Professional.

Debbie is a frequent lecturer nationally and internationally at veterinary conferences and in the animal training world. Debbie is a published author and her writing has been featured in professional journals including, American Veterinarian and Today's Veterinary Technician. She is the co-editor and contributing author of Canine and Feline Behavior for Veterinary Technicians and Nurses, 2nd edition. Dr. Martin and Debbie are Subject Matter Experts for Fear Free Pets.
